Prepare for your child's first visit by taking a positive approach.  For very young children there are excellent children's stories which describe a visit to the dentist.  Convey good feelings about dental visits being a part of growing up.  Usually you will be allowed to be with your child during the initial examination.  We ask, however, that you remain a "silent partner" since it is difficult for a child to pay attention to more than one person at a time.  Please understand that crying is a normal reaction. When you schedule your child's first visit, we will mail you a health history form to complete and return, or you can fill the form out here.  During the first visit, we will examine your child's teeth and take x-rays of the teeth and jaw.

Based on the results of your child's first visit and initial examination, we may recommend one or more follow-up visits for dental or orthodontic treatment.  We also recommend that you child be seen every six months for preventive care.  These visits may be scheduled six months in advance.  We will then mail you a postcard reminding you of your appointment. Many times extensive and costly dental and orthodontic treatment can be averted through timely pediatric care as the face, jaws and teeth are developing.

We do not set aside "emergency time" on a daily basis.  If your child has an emergency, please call us and we will see your child as soon as possible.  Our regular telephone number (733-7254) is answered 24 hours a day.  When our office is not open, calls are directed to an answering service for prompt attention.  Occasionally an emergency will cause us to run late with regularly scheduled patients.  When this happens, we request your understanding and will do our best to keep you informed.
